The Greater Dayton School is a private school for kids from low-income backgrounds. We offer our students small class sizes (2 teachers for 20 students), wraparound medical care and therapy, and a whole child education. We’re hiring a Resident Teacher, which is a teacher in training and in-house substitute. On days when all teachers are present, they will work as a teachers aid and learn from some of the best teachers in the country. On days when a teacher is absent, they will substitute teach.
Our goal is to train Resident Teachers to become full-time teachers in future years.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Learn innovative teaching from some of the best educators in the country.
Aid teachers in day-to-day instructional tasks: small group teaching, assessment, classroom management, and other teacher responsibilities.
Supervise lunch and recess.
When teachers are absent, serve as an in-house substitute.
(LIMITED TO 1 DAY PER MONTH FOR TFA CORPS MEMBERS)
Character Traits and Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (in any subject area).
Strong desire to teach children in a PreK-8th grade school.
Love kids and have a desire to help them learn and grow.
Treats kids with respect, acts as a mentor, and has high expectations for students.
Preferred – Ability to effectively manage students and a classroom environment.
Preferred – Experience with competency based learning assessment models.
Preferred – Experience with digital learning platforms and educational technology.
Preferred – One or more years working with kids in an educational setting.
Compensation + Details:
Hours – 8:00am-5:00pm
10 month school calendar (i.e. 2 months of vacation time on breaks)
Pay – $50K salary
